OBA Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi yesterday was crowned with the traditional Ade-Are as the 51th Ooni to preside over the affairs of Ife Kingdom.

The crowning confirmed him as substantive Ooni as against an Ooni-elect which he had been until his seclusion in Ilofi.

Oba Ogunwusi was presented with the crown by the custodians at a place called Oke-Ora located between Ile-Ife and Osu on Ilesa Road, Osun State.

The monarch, who appeared in public for the first time after spending about 21 days in seclusion, was accompanied by indigenes of the town and members of Isoro cult.

Ogunwusi, who had set out at dawn, visited many strategic and historic places in the town including his family house and Obalufe Compound to perform some rites as tradition demands.

Several gun shots heralded his presence in those places he visited.
As at press time, mats have been laid on the road from Enuwa to the palace gate which Oba Ogunwusi would walk on barefooted to enter through a traditional gate behind the palace.

The Guardian learnt that once the Ooni enters the palace, a door that had remained open inside the palace since the demise of Ooni Okunade Sijuwade,Olubuse 11, would be locked and the main gate leading to the palace which had been closed would now be opened.

Meanwhile, activities lined up for his inauguration would begin on Monday next week to end on December 7 with the presentation of staff of Office by the state Governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
