Ondo Trauma Centre Begins Kidney Transplant

Ondo State Government has said that its Trauma Centre will begin Kidney transplant in the new year, as part of measures to make the facility live up to its billing.

The Centre is said to boast of a Cardiac Intervention Centre, Radiotherapy and Cancer Institute and a purpose-built Opthamological hospital.
 
The state Commissioner for Information, Kayode Akinmade, in Akure, at the weekend, said emergency surgical intervention in the country is being transformed with the state taking a leading role.

He noted that the Trauma Centre is a level 1 facility with personnel across all surgical specialists, adding that about 3,000 surgeries have been carried out in the yet to be commissioned Trauma and Surgical Centre, and 2,400 dialysis recorded at the Kidney Care Centre between March 2014 when the facility became operational to date.
