The semi-mechanized abattoir being constructed by the Ondo State government will soon be ready for commissioning as all equipment in the facility have been tested and confirmed to be in perfect condition.

The State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko said this when he led members of his cabinet on inspection tour of the facility,

The Governor at the inspection, expressed satisfaction at the level of completion and the condition of the equipment that is expected to fast-track its commissioning.

According to the governor, the abattoir when operational is capable of handling about 2000 heads of cattle within 24hrs under a hygienic condition with state of the art facilities.

Mimiko assured that as soon as the road network, which is being handled by the State Asphalt Company (OSAC) is completed, the facility would be commissioned for use.

He said, “We are excited at what we have seen here, the main abattoir is working, the cold room is working, the automated part is also working. What we have left is to go. What we are about now completing is the road network and landscaping”.
