Ondo APC risks electoral defeat, Abraham warns

I will make statement with governance, says Jegede

One of the gladiators in the tussle for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the November 26 governorship election in Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Abraham, has warned of the party’s imminent defeat at the poll.

Addressing a press conference yesterday in Akure, he said the only thing that could reverse the situation was the return of what he claimed was his mandate as the candidate of the party.

He joined other contenders of the September 3 primary election, Chief Olusola Oke and Senator Ajayi Boroffice, to criticise the decision of the party’s national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun to discard the report of the appeal committee.

“Resolving the quagmire in Ondo State is a golden opportunity for the APC to showcase to the world and give Nigerians real confidence that we are a just and honest party,” he remarked.

In the meantime, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) standard-bearer, Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), has promised to use, if elected, the experience he acquired as part of the incumbent government for over seven years, to make what he described as profound statements with governance.

According to the former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, his position as an integral part of the outgoing administration had given him an insight into what could be done to further raise the bar of governance in the state.

Addressing reporters at the weekend in Akure, Jegede said the challenges of the time demanded that the best hand was engaged to address them.
