Methodist Girls High Schools, Yaba, Old Girls Association is set to pull down the old building within the school premises and build a new structure.

According to the president, Mrs. Yomi Afolabi, the time has come for the old to give way for a new structure.

“Today, the old structure will be pulled down and the construction of the new building begins. We thank God that no life was lost since the old structure was set up many years back. Though we have memories of the old building, it has to go down because we are erecting a modern facility,” she added.

Mrs. Afolabi noted that the school produced eminent Nigerians who contributed greatly to the socio-economic development of the nation in several fields.

Vice president of the fund-raising committee, Mrs. Adetola Ola of the 79/84 set, said she was proud to be a product of the school, adding that an e-learning classroom and state-of-the-art laboratories had previously been doanted to the school.

Methodist Girls High School was established in 1879 to give girls an education that would enable them contribute in a practical and meaningful way to the stability of family life within the society.
