The Old Grammarian Society (OGS) sets of 1977/79 have honoured the Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, for his achievements in academic world.

The OGS of the CMS Grammar School, Bariga, hosted Ogundipe to a dinner in commemoration of his appointment as Vice Chancellor. President of OGS, Adedapo Fashanu, said the get-together is to celebrate the VC’s career elevation and to support him.

Also, the coordinator, Friends of the VC, UNILAG, Olu Vincent, said the gathering was also to network and deliberate on giving back to the CMS school.

“Once you are a grammarian, you are a grammarian for life. We left school over 40 years ago. One of us has just been appointed the 12th VC of UNILAG and we just said we should give him support and honour him with a dinner and a plaque just for him to remember that his friends celebrate his success and identify with him,” he said.

In his remark, Ogundipe commended the gesture, just as he pledged to support students from the school.

“The honour is for our set at CMS grammar school and the school itself because of the training we had and because we have been monitoring and encouraging one another in everything we do and also part of our school song that says we are being trained to move to the next level and I thank God for this opportunity given to me. I have always been assisting students from the school to gain admission to UNILAG, which is my own way of giving back to the school,” he said.
