Okowa Seeks Repositioning Of NYSC
DELTA State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has pledged to fashion out ways of repositioning the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with a view to engendering greater efficiency and more effective service delivery.
Okowa, who spoke yesterday at the opening ceremony/swearing in of the 2015 Batch “B” Stream 1 Corps members deployed to Delta State, at the
NYSC permanent orientation camp, Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Council, said that the orientation programme was a segment of the service year which provided the platform for corps members physical, emotional and psychological conditioning, as well as an ideal environment for the comprehensive distillation of ideas towards enhancing national integration and development.
Represented by Deputy Governor Kingsley Otuaro, the governor enjoined corps members to fully participate in all the orientation programme so as to maximally benefit from the exercise.
He implored corps members to be guided by the same sense of duty and discipline that saw them successfully complete their various academic programmes.
While noting that the one-year national service would present sundry challenges and opportunities for corps members, he urged them to conduct themselves with single-minded dedication and vigour in order to make an unqualified success of the service year.
