With the increase in the flood victims, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has called on the Federal Government, the organised private sector and kind-hearted individuals to help, as needs have overwhelmed the relief materials available.

When Governor Okowa visited the holding camps in Patani Council on Monday to personally ascertain how the people were faring, he disclosed that adequate manpower had been deployed to the camps.

According to him, needs of the victims are unpredictably on the increase as people continue to seek refuge at the camps.

“We have more than 1,500 people and there are several camps set up in this area because, out of the 16 communities, 11 are under water, which is a sad situation.

“Every other town that I have visited, the holding camps are in one school or another, but the schools in this area have been submerged.

The water may take time to recede. I just hope that the Federal Government will urgently intervene.
