Okorocha attributes 2011 victory to children

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has congratulated children as they celebrated their day, and disclosed that his drive to contest in 2011 governorship race was largely propelled by the children in the state and the country at large.

He said these in a statement issued signed by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Sam Onwuemeodo, and made available to The Guardian in Owerri, yesterday.

According to Okorocha, the free education policy instituted by his administration immediately after assumption of duty in 2011, for pupils and students at all levels, was essentially instituted to help the poorest of the poor in the state and beyond, including the floating of his college, Rochas Foundation, where indigent children go to school free of charge.

Okorocha prayed God to protect them and see them through as they actualise their dream, noting that “investment on children was good for the nation because the long-existing yearnings of the people for a better Imo and a better Nigeria, and even a better world can be achieved.”
