Okoh calls for values re-orientation

Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, Primate of all Nigeria (Anglican Communion), has urged Christians to re-orientate their lives towards good values so that they would be rich before God and men.

Okoh made the call while rounding off the 3rd session of the 9th Synod with the theme, “The Poverty of Riches” in Abuja on Sunday.

He said the outcome was a call for integrity of life, that life should not be based on material prosperity because it was fraught with so many dangers.

There are so many people who may be going about materially rich but are very poor, blind and miserable in terms of values before human beings and God.

The society, church, individuals and families should re-orientate their lives towards values that will make them truly rich before men and God.

Our emphasis on money and what it can buy has devalued our morals and other areas of our lives’’, Okoh said.

He called on Nigerians to avoid divisive tendencies either religiously, politically or ethnic point of views.

The primate advised Nigerians to learn to co-exist, respect people’s dignity, rights and views.

Today is Trinity Sunday where we emphasise the trinity. So, we call on Nigerians to de-emphasise promoting divisive tendencies and trying to dominate either religiously, politically or from ethnic point of view.

The 2016 Synod was an opportunity for the bishops and members of the Anglican Communion to review their activities and chart a way forward.
