Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, yesterday, raised fresh alarm over killings and destruction of farmlands by herdsmen. In an address he presented at the 2016 Igbo Day celebration in Enugu, President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Enwo Igariwey, condemned violent attacks on communities and killings of residents by the herdsmen. It warned that the entire vegetation of the southeast risked become totally depleted if the Federal Government maintained silence on the matter.

The development comes as the police in Enugu said they have commenced investigations into the abduction of three Catholic priests on Tuesday in Nsukka Local Government Area.

Meanwhile, a non-governmental organisation, Human Rights Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), has petitioned the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands over attacks by armed Fulani men on local farmers, and other extra-judicial killings in Nigeria.Igariwey, whose speech was presented by his deputy, Chief Ogochukwu Onyema, called on the Federal Government to end the menace.

Igariwey, whose speech was presented by his deputy, Chief Ogochukwu Onyema, called on the Federal Government to “to stop the conflict resulting from the activities of these suspected Fulani herdsmen. People are losing patience and may engage in self-help, to ward off trespassers on their farmlands.”

In a statement by its National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, the group said it was compelled to drag the Federal Government to the ICC because the administration had stood by and watched “without the Nigerian government deploying the military to treat these mass killers as terrorists, even when most crime rating agencies around the world viewed armed Fulani herdsmen as the second deadliest terror group in Nigeria.”

Ohaneze needs to wake and face reality in the eye. How do you expect an Islamist like Buhari to stop the activities of his foot soldiers. One million press release and condemnation will not get the ears of Buhari, the solution is to confront your enemies. How many are the herdsmen compared to the thousands and millions of the residents, you must chase away the hundreds before the become thousands and by the time you know it, you have become another Benue or Plateau states with constant Fulani massacre. You don’t need police or army to protect your homeland. Our metal smiths make guns, and you need to organize your youths into fully armed security outfits, and chase away the terrorist in your midst. Stop crying out and start acting out. BUHARI IS CHIEF TERRORIST AND AN ISLAMIST. STOP LAMENTING AND PROTECT YOUR HOMELAND, FIGHT THE HUDREDS BEFORE THE BECOME THOUSANDS, THEY ARE COMING.
