The former Imo governor and Accord party candidate, Dr. Ikedi Ohakim said there was a lot of improvement in the exercise compared to the February 23 elections in the state.

Ohakim was optimistic of victory in the poll. He said his victory would address issues of equity and due process in the state.

Also Ifeanyi Araraume, governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), affirms that INEC improved in its responsibility yesterday.

According to him, the exercise commenced early as expected. He also expressed high hopes that his party will record victory.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Emeka Ihedioha, who also commended the electoral umpire expressed optimism on his performance.

In a statement issued after the former lawmaker cast his vote at Town School, Mbutu, Aboh Mbaise Local Council, he also commended the security agencies over display of maturity and safety of life and property.

Expressing optimism, Ihedioha said: “The reports I am getting from across the state is that Imolites are voting PDP candidates for the governorship and state assembly elections. The reports also say that I am the popular choice of the people and it does appear to me that the people’s vote will count. By the grace of God, I am going to win.”
