Ogun Targets N4.2b Revenue From Commerce, Industry

Ogun State government has projected to rake in the sum of N4.2b as IGR to boost its income in the 2016 fiscal year.

The Commissioner for Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Bimbo Ashiru, said this while defending the ministry’s proposed budget before the State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation.

He noted that the target would be met if necessary equipment were provided and adequate measures taken to enable the Ministry carry out its duty effectively.

According to him, in the 2016 fiscal year, of the N962m budgeted for the Ministry, over N647million would be spent on capital expenditure while about N315m would be for recurrent expenditure.

He said the sum of N83m would be used to establish additional zonal offices at Odogbolu and Owode Yewa, while N10m was earmarked for the conduct of survey to prepare a mineral resources map of the state and N5m has been set aside to establish a quality control laboratory in the geological department to maintain the standard and quality of product from solid minerals.
