The Ogun State Government has released another N1.7billion for the payment of gratuities to another batch of 685 pensioners in the State.

The beneficiaries were those who retired from civil service between January to June 2013.

The government had, about two weeks ago disbursed the sum of N1.5billion to the first batch of retirees between July to December, 2012.

The payments were part of the N6billion released in December by the State government from the Paris Club refund, which was meant for the payment of gratuities for 2,429 retirees from November 2012 till January 2014.

The gesture, according to the government, was in fulfilment of government’s promise to continue the payment of outstanding gratuities in batches.

Addressing the beneficiaries at the Arcade Ground, Governor’s Office in Oke Mosan, the Head of Service, Abayomi Sobande commended the affected retirees for their patience and understanding.

Sobande explained that government was concerned with the comfort and welfare of the retired civil servants despite the economic situation in the country.
