Ogun sets up chieftaincy review committee
Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun yesterday inaugurated a chieftaincy review committee with the responsibility to re-evaluate last minute installation of some monarchs in the state.
Abiodun had in his speech at inauguration said his administration would not allow any form of assault on the traditional institution or its values.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the committee, the Olu of Ilaro and paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, pledged that the committee would do a thorough job by being fair and just. He also thanked the governor for taking a “bold step” to right the wrongs of the past by setting up the committee, lamenting that traditional institution had been “bastardised and destroyed.”
