Ogun embraces alternative dispute resolution, as Amosun commissions multi-door courthouse

Worried by the slow justice system administration in this State, the Ogun State government has established an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) through the inauguration of a multi-door Courthouse in the State.

According to the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the ADR was to ensure “less expensive, simplified, faster and ultimate justice” is delivered to everybody efficiently.

The Governor spoke yesterday during the official commissioning of “Ogun Multi-Door Courthouse” at Isabo, Abeokuta, the State capital, said the move was also to fulfill the promises of his present administration in repositioning justice administration.

The Chief Justice of the State, Justice Olubukola Olopade in his address explained that the National Judicial Policy and the Chief Justice of Nigeria’s directive that state judiciary should adopt and embrace ADR motivated them to partner with the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC) to establish the Multi-door Courthouse.

She explained that the State judiciary in collaboration with the ICMC had trained Panel of Neutrals to serve in the Courthouse.

She stated that the State judiciary would establish two more Multi-door houses in Ijebu-Ode and Ota to ensure the availability of ADR in all the three Senatorial Districts of the state.

Some of the dignatries at the event included the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, Ibrahim Atanda, Justices, retired Justices, lawyers and traditional rulers.
