Ogbuoji withdraws guber petition against Umahi in Ebonyi

The Ebonyi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal yesterday struck out the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Sonni Ogbuoji, challenging the declaration of Governor David Umahi as winner of the March 9, 2019 polls by the Independent national Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Ebonyi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal yesterday struck out the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Sonni Ogbuoji, challenging the declaration of Governor David Umahi as winner of the March 9, 2019 polls by the Independent national Electoral Commission (INEC).

The decision followed the withdrawal of the complaints by the petitioner.Ogbuoji, through his counsel, Michael Odo, tendered the motion for withdrawal of the petition at the resumption of hearing yesterday.The lawyer to the governor, Okechukwu Otukwu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and INEC did not object.The tribunal thereafter awarded N100,000 to the first respondent.
