Odubu denies rift with Oshiomhole

The state Deputy Governor, Dr Pius Odubu, yesterday denied having any dispute with Governor Adams Oshiomhole.

The Chief Press Secretary to the deputy governor, Mr Kelly Odaro said: “Our attention has been drawn to the falsehood being circulated by some disgruntled elements on the social media, especially by one Ugiagbe Josh Eseiwi. The reports had it that Odubu was at war with Oshiomhole over the shift in date of the governorship election.

“The said post further suggested that the altercation led to the governor directing his security aides to walk him out of his office”.

According to Odaro: “This statement is entirely false, a figment of the authors’ imagination and a desperate and continuous move to drive a wedge between the governor and his deputy”.

The statement described Odubu as a perfect gentleman who is imbued with the principles of honesty, integrity and respect for constituted authority and above all, the fear of God.

Odaro added that there was no basis for a dispute between the two leaders, because the power to shift an election did not lie with them, but the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“Edo people should disregard this post, as both Oshiomhole and Odubu would continue to enjoy a harmonious relationship.

“Odubu and his supporters have put the issue of the APC primaries behind them and is currently mobilising his supporters across the state to vote for the APC’s candidate, Mr. Godwin Obaseki,” he said.
