Parties to the protracted dispute between Izzi indigenes and Ebonyi State Government over the Ochudo/Centenary City land have been directed to maintain the status quo pending the determination of the suit filed by Ndieze Inyimagu-Unuphu.

Justice A. Aluko of Abakaliki Federal High Court handed down the order on Friday, while ruling on an ex-parte application filed by the law firm of Ani and Edemba, on behalf of the Izzi communities.

Ndieze Inyimagu-Unuphu, Izzi-Amegu of Abakaliki Local Government, had after several protests against the unlawful acquisition of their ancestral land, dragged the State Government, Nigeria Army and Nigeria Police to court, seeking among other reliefs the return of their ancestral land and N1b damages.
