Governor Willie Obiano has said that the condition for any community in Anambra State to move to the second phase of the N20 million choose-your-project community initiative was predicated on the completion of the first round of any one chosen.

He said this yesterday at Eziowelle community in Idemili North Local Council during a special reception for him. He was also conferred with the title of “Omelu K’Okwulu” by the community.

Obiano, who used the occasion to commission an ultra-modern 3,000-capacity civic centre structured to accommodate a magistrate’s court, electronic library, an auditorium and other conveniences, among others, said the “mass-return” recorded in Eziowelle community was as a result of the peace and security which has come to stay in the state.

He commended them for the self-help efforts, especially the construction of the edifice which, he noted, would encourage social activities and promote effective learning.

President General of Eziowelle, Mr. Titus Akpudo, commended the governor for his developmental blueprint and pleaded for the construction of roads linking Umunachi and Nimo and other neighboring towns to alleviate the suffering of the people and boost social and economic activities in the affected areas.

The chairman of the occasion, Chief Raz Okafor, said the community had set aside the day to celebrate their unity and progress, adding that this year’s event was remarkable due to tremendous return of their people.
