Obaze, Nwibe, others react to Soludo’s comment on Obiano

Charles Chukwuma Soludo

Former Secretary to Anambra State government (SSG) and a governorship aspirant in the November election, Mr. Oseluka Obaze and the All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant, Engineer Bart Nwibe have criticized former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Chukwuma Soludo for saying that there was no vacancy in Government House, Awka post 2017.

Soludo had said that Governor Willie Obiano had done well and as such there was no vacancy at the Anambra State government house.

But Obaze in his swift reaction yesterday, disagreed with Soludo, adding that the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria provides for such vacancy every four years and that was why Obiano would be running for re-election and seeking endorsement from the Anambra people.

Obaze said that he has respect for Soludo right to free thought and expression but considered it inappropriate for someone of Soludo’s standing to say that there was no vacancy in the Anambra government house.

Meanwhile, Nwibe who spoke to journalists at a press conference in Awka at the weekend said he least expected Soludo to make such assertions and wondered the yardsticks he used in his assessment of Obiano’s government.

His words: “I don’t know the parameter he used to say the governor is performing well. When people colour their private ambition into a public policy statement, then there is a problem.

“For Soludo to say there is no vacancy in government house Awka is anti-democratic. It means he has a hidden agenda. Maybe he desires Obiano to hand over to him.”

In his reaction, former chairman of Public Complaints Commission (PCC) FCT, chapter, Abuja, and Secretary of Anambra Union, Barrister Obunike Ohaegbu said Obiano’s administration has not done any remarkably well for anybody to canvass for his second term in office.
