Obasanjo owns disputed Itele land, insists Baale

The traditional head of Iliwo Itele in Ado-Odo, Ota Local Council of Ogun state, Chief Adekoya Adesina Fashina, has declared that the titles on the Itele Ota land owned by former President Olusegun Obasanjo are not “defective”.

Fashina insisted that the former president’s expansive land in the area was duly purchased from their forefathers and documents to it handed over to him.

The Baale said he was disappointed that some people he described as ‘disgruntled elements’ had taken the former president to court in an attempt to reclaim the land, which he said Obasanjo lawfully purchased.

Reacting to the suit jointly instituted by Nurudeen Akapo, Taoreed Momodu, Dada Sunday, Mathew Owotolu and Monsuru Ashifatu Yusuf at an Ogun State High Court, Fashina alleged that the suit contained “falsehood”.

Fashina, who spoke to journalists in Abeokuta yesterday said: “All the story about Chief Akanle and his wife are not true. It is Baba Obasanjo that owns the land. I don’t think Mama Akanle even knows the place too.

“Baba Obasanjo bought the land, paid for it and has all title documents of the land. So, I will only advise them to go to their land and should not disturb the peace that we have been enjoying in the last two years at Itele.”
