Obaro of Kabba and Chairman, Okun Area Traditional Council, Oba Solomon Owoniyi yesterday in Kabba, Kogi State said the council is working with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and political parties to ensure violence free polls in the area.

This is coming on the heel of speculations and rising fears in the state that rival politicians may have stockpiled arms in readiness for a do or die, ahead of the February 16 presidential and National Assembly elections.

Addressing leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Kogi West Senatorial District and Dino Melaye Campaign Organisation (DMCO) who paid a courtesy visit to his palace, the Obaro prayed for the safety of the campaigners and warned politicians to run their campaign without violence.

“My appeal to all political parties is that you should avoid violence. We don’t want violence. We don’t want this place to be turned to a theatre of violence,” he said.
