Obaro of Kabba for installation in september, says Bello
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has tentatively fixed the second week of September for the installation of the new Obaro of Kabba, Solomon Owoniyi.
Bello spoke in Okene during a sallah visit by the Kabba community to thank the governor for the appointment of a new traditional ruler.
Bello indicated that the coronation would take place on or before the second week of September.
He said his government would not condone violence from across the length and breadth of the state as he warned criminals to stay away or face the full wrath of the law while promising to appease all aggrieved Kabba people who rejected Owoniyi’s appointment.
The three ruling houses, Mokelu, Ajinuhi and Ajibohokun, had shortly after Owoniyi’s appointment, rejected Bello’s choice, describing it as “politically motivated”.
The Ilajo Royal family went to court, challenging Owoniyi’s appointment on the grounds that he is not a member of the royal family. They asked the court to declare them custodian of the chieftaincy stool and the only family that can occupy the stool.
In his response the Obaro elect expressed gratitude to God who has made it possible.
