OAGF assures Nigerians on reduction of TSA charges
The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) has assured Nigerians that it would reduce the charges they pay for their Treasury Single Account (TSA), just as it disclosed of a nationwide campaign on the policy.
A non-governmental organisation, United Global Resolve For Peace (UGRFP), had last week petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Ministry of Justice to immediate review the fees by ensuring that no political appointee had the enormous power to arbitrarily impose tariffs on Nigerians.
The group had spoken with The Guardian through its Executive Director, Shalom Olaseni following a litany of complaints from the citizenry.
The OAGF through its Director of TSA, Sylva Okolie Abor, yesterday in Abuja said the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) imposed the N150 charge per transaction for ‘regulation and service rendered’ immediately after the Federal Government transferred the burden.
Abor added that there was no contract between SystemSpecs and the Nigerian government, adding that the CBN acting as a banker for the Federal Government procured SystemSpecs to provide a platform to effect the scheme which birthed REMITA.
