The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has appealed to Borno Government to utilised the potential of corps members in its rehabilitation and reconstruction of communities ravaged by insurgency.

The state NYSC Coordinator, Alhaji Lawal Turawa, made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri on Sunday.

Turawa said that engaging the corps members in the rebuilding of the ravaged areas would help in restoring the loss glory of state.

He said that the present serving corps members would help in providing additional manpower to the state agencies.

“You will agree with me that our corps members are graduates from various institutions across the country and the world.

“We have engineers, doctors, nurses, lawyers, architect and what have you.

“All the government needs to do is to encourage them by improving their welfare and build the confident in them by giving them the chance in the development of the state.

“By doing this you are creating job opportunities for the youths, boosting socio-economic activities of the state and also saving the cost of whatever you are doing.

“We also have those on the educational line who will also offer a great service, especially now that schools have reopened in the state capital,’’ Turawa said.
