NYSC to blacklist institutions over unqualified graduates
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has vowed to blacklist tertiary institutions involved in fraudulent mobilisation of unqualified graduates.
NYSC Director-General, Shuaibu Ibrahim, gave the warning at an interactive meeting with foreign institutions, lamenting that there have been an upsurge in the number of graduates who could not defend their degree certificates in recent times.
He noted that henceforth only certificates and transcripts authenticated by the Nigerian Consulates in those countries of study would be accepted for national service.
“Beginning from the 2019 Batch C service year, only certificates authenticated by the Nigerian Consulates in those countries of study will be accepted for national service.
“Furthermore, all institutions found culpable in the sale of degree certificates will be blacklisted. Some tertiary institutions simply sell their Degree and Higher National Diploma (HND) certificates to persons who never passed through academic rigour,” he stressed.
