NYCN carpets Elechi over attack on Umahi
The president of Ebonyi state chapter of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Elder Sam Igwe, yesterday berated the former governor, Martin Elechi over comments he made concerning Governor David Umahi. In a chat with journalists in Abakaliki, Igwe asked Elechi to apologize to Ebonyi people over the massive corruption and monumental failure that characterized his eight years administration.
He noted that Umahi, since assumption of office, has given opposition a chance in the state by appointing many opposition members into positions of authority.
“The present Secretary to the State Government Prof. Benard Odoh was a senatorial candidate for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) during the last general election, the Caretaker Chairman of Afikpo South, Barr. Eni Uduma was a candidate for Labour Party in the last election amongst others” he noted.
“I’m surprised that such a comment is coming from a man who attempted to kill opposition during his tenure” he added. He described the former governor as a drowning man and an expired politician who is aggrieved because he was unable to install his successor. The former governor had during a press briefing to mark his 75th birthday said that the reason he did not support governor Umahi was because the latter would not tolerate opposition.
