Lagos State Police Command Wednesday said no death was recorded in the crisis that ensued between two factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Ojota Park along Ikorodu road in Lagos.

Police spokesman Bala Elkana confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

“There is a crisis between the factions in Ojota Park. Somebody died on admission in the hospital and the other faction said they used juju to kill him,” Bala said.

The police spokesman told The Guardian that the second faction mobilised in bid to retaliate the death of their member.

Elkana said police officers restored calm to the park after being informed. Elkana insisted that the NURTW staff “was not killed in any crisis, he died in the hospital.”

Prior to this, there was an ongoing crisis between factions of NURTW at the state level,

The Union is prone to violence.

Earlier in June, another crisis led to the death of one and injury to many other members of the union.

The clash took place between the rival members of the union in Apapa Iganmu area of the state. It was reported that the two rival groups were divided over support for the elected national president, Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa and the Lagos chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede.
