Jaffaru, who visited Imo Prisons to ascertain the incident in which about six gunmen dressed in Department of State Security (DSS) uniforms, stormed the Owerri High Court’s premises last weekend, overpowering the security men who accompanied about 57 inmates to courts, setting free alleged notorious kidnapper, Chibueze Henry, a.k.a. Vampire and eight others, disclosed this to both the Imo State deputy governor, Eze Madumere and the Chief Judge of the state, Paschal Nnadi.

The prisons’ chief advised that a makeshift cell be built at the court premises where inmates could be kept temporarily for a while before they are taken to the courts easily.

He said the vehicles were purchased to ensure that the inmates were carried to the courts, disclosing that he had come to ensure necessary measures were taken to forestall such reoccurrence.

Madumere urged synergy among security agencies in the state to ensure enhanced security, stating that if such synergy had been taking place in the state, the ugly incident would not have occurred.

He said Governor Rochas Okorocha was desirous that the notorious inmate was re-arrested by placing a reward of N5 million to any informant on the whereabouts of Vampire.

Nnadi said from all indications, the gunmen had understudied the environment thoroughly before storming and executing such.

Nnadi rged that adequate health facilities be provided for the inmates, because they were entitled to right to good health.
