Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kebbi State chapter, has appealed to the state government to convene a mini economic summit to fashion out other ways of revenue generation for the state.

Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kebbi State chapter, has appealed to the state government to convene a mini economic summit to fashion out other ways of revenue generation for the state.

In a statement yesterday to mark the May Day, the chairman, Umar Alhassan, asserted that the economic summit would be an eye-opener for oil-producing states, as oil revenue might no longer be feasible.

As the farming season draws close, government should also release some farm inputs and machinery for farmers as a take off, he added.

Alhassan, who urged the Muslim Ummah to use the Ramadan period to pray for God’s protection against COVID-19, commended the state government for measures in curbing the menace in the state.

“I call on all civil servants to continue to adhere strictly to preventive measures for the COVID-19 pandemic as directed by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC),” he said.

He appreciated the state government for the released of N2.4 billion as part-payment of the gratuities and leave grants for the junior staff, and appealed for the payment of the senior staff.
