NJC promotes Uwani Musa Abba Aji as Supreme Court Justices

The National Judicial Council (NJC), under the Chairmanship of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, has recommended eight successful candidates for appointment as a Justice of the Supreme Court, heads of courts and judicial officers

The National Judicial Council (NJC), under the Chairmanship of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, has recommended eight successful candidates for appointment as a Justice of the Supreme Court, heads of courts and judicial officers  

The recommendation, which was made at its 87th meeting of October 3 and 4, was directed at President Muhammadu Buhari and governors of Abia, Benue, Ogun, Oyo and Kwara states, respectively, for approval.  

The successful candidates include Justice Uwani Musa Abba Aji (JCA) for the Supreme Court on Nigeria, Justice Onuoha Arisa Kalu Ogwe for appointment as Chief Judge of Abia State High Court of Justice and Justice Aondover Kaka’an, who qualified as the Chief Judge of Benue State High Court of Justice.  

Others are Chief Judge of Ogun State High Court of Justice, Justice Mosunmola Arinola Dipeolu, as well as Justices Oludayo Oluwabamise Osunfisan, Olusola Stephen Oloyede and Olatunde Hassan Oyajinmi, who were elevated to the State High Court.  

Meanwhile, Zakariyah Abdulrasaq was appointed Kadi, Sharia Court of Appeal, Kwara State, while Justice Eni Esan was recommended for appointment as the President, Customary Court of Appeal, Oyo State.   

According to the statement signed yesterday by the Council’s Director of Information, Soji Oye, the newly-appointed candidates would be sworn in after the approval of the President and their respective state governors, respectively.
