UNIVERSITY of Benin (UNIBEN) at the weekend said it has accessed the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), which it was spending on buildings for lecture theatres and laboratories.

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Faraday Orumwense, who stated that his management was committed to provide the critical infrastructure for conducive environment for quality teaching and research in the university, said the TETFUND and National Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy (NEEDS) were funding the projects as part of the strategic plan to ensure the university maintains its position as the best in Nigeria.

Orumwense also said the projects would bring the institution closer to its much-desired global ranking, adding: “It is huge sum of money, the amount is quite big, my thanks to the Federal Government for providing the needed funds for the project. They include Faculty of Education 500 capacity lecture theatre and two number 100 capacity lecture halls.
