The Gombe state National and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal has upheld the election of Senator Mohammed Danjuma Goje of All Progressives Congress as the senator representing Gombe Central Senatorial District.

In her ruling in Gombe, the Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Roseline Audu, said the petition filed by Usman Bello Kumo of the People’s Democratic Party failed to provide any strong evidence to back up his allegations.

Justice Audu said after due consideration of witnesses and evidence, the petition was not only incompetent, but lacking in weight, as such the allegations remained vague and totally nothing on the scale of justice.

The Tribunal also said the petition was filed out of the stipulated time of 21 days and as such lacked the legal incompetence.

The Petitioner, Alhaji Usman Bello Kumo had asked the tribunal for the nullification of Senator Goje’s election, which he said was marred
by violence, irregularities, such as over voting and doctoring of election results in 22 wards of Akko and Yamaltu Deba Local Governments of Gombe State.
