• Endorse Saraki As Political Leader

THE Emir of Lafiagi in Edu Local Government Area (LGA) of Kwara state, Alhaji Kawu Haliru, Friday reiterated the importance of Traditional Rulers as the harbinger of peace in Nigeria.

The Emir, while receiving in audience in his palace, former Governor of Kwara state, Bukola Saraki said, traditional rulers for could be used as agents of peace for the forthcoming general elections across the country.

His suggestion is coming, even as the Etsu Tsaragi, Edu Local Government Area (LGA) of Kwara state Alhaji Aliyu Kpotwo, has said that all the traditional rulers in the state have endorsed Bukola Saraki, to be the political leader of the people of the state.

Kpotwo, while receiving the campaign train of Saraki for the re -election of the state governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, yesterday at Tsaragi, said all the first-class traditional rulers in the state, chose Saraki after the demise of his father Dr. Olusola Saraki, “to lead us politically.”

The Etsu, who lauded Saraki for initiating the reconstruction works of his palace, praised Ahmed for completing the project now a prized edifice to the people of the town.

On   the peace initiative, Haliru said: “They are our people, we know them very well and we can prevail on them to tow the line of peace irrespective of the prevailing circumstances. That is why we still believe that we should be given a constitutional role to play in Nigeria,” he said.

Haliru, while reminiscing on the existing bond between his people and the people of Ilorin said, they would always align with the Ilorins in whatever may be their political ideologies.

According to him, “in our own Lafiagi, we would not renege on the political agreement between our fore fathers and the Ilorin people. They were always doing things in common. We will not allow this age long harmonious relationship to end during our own time.”

Saraki, while speaking on the imperative of good governance as the pivot on which viable democracy could continue, said his movement from People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressives Congress (APC) remained the greatest step ever taken in his burgeoning political career.
