PDP rejects Abia ex-governor’s return to party
DESPITE the open plea by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mua’zu, during the presidential/governorship campaign flag-off rally in Umuahia, Abia State, that the state chapter of the party should re-absorb the immediate past governor, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, into its membership fold, some powerful members of the Abia PDP have rejected the purported ex-governor’s return.
The PDP National Chairman had announced at the rally that the former governor has been working in concert with the presidency and the party leadership at Abuja to ensure the victory of the PDP in next month’s election, but which the members loudly rejected.
Asked to clear the air on the position, the former state PDP Chairman, Senator Emma Nwaka, who was recalled at the rally to office as State Chairman on acting capacity alongside with his former executives, told The Guardian on Wednesday that Kalu remains a former member of the party as far as the state party, his local government and ward chapters are concerned.
According to Nwaka, who implied that Kalu was yet to show remorse to the party and apologize for his misdeeds, asserted that the state rally cannot be the right place or forum for him to do so.
“You were at the rally when our National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mua’zu, made the announcement on Kalu’s hobnobbing with the presidency and party leadership at Abuja.
