AS members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and their supporters in Ondo State hold rally today for Gen. Muhammadu Buhari in Akure, elders of the party have continued to drum up support for him.

The elders, mostly septuagenarian and octogenarian politicians who were active political players during the First Republic, rose from a meeting in Akure yesterday to describe Buhari as the only option that can pull the country out of the woods.

In a statement signed by Chairman of the Elders’Forum, Second Republic Senator Olorunnimbe Farunkanmi, who was also a close associate of late Chief Bola Ige and the Secretary, Bayo Olafusi, the elders said Nigeria was already on the brink of economic collapse under President Goodluck Jonathan.

According to the elders who were drawn from the 18 local councils of the state for the meeting, “the problems ravaging the country are numerous, and we must not allow these problems to continue as they are capable of causing disintegration of the country.”
