THE postponement of the general elections by six weeks notwithstanding, the three leading governorship candidates for the polls are to take to the stage come Thursday, February 19, where  they are to intimate Deltans of what they have to offer the state.

The event, billed for the Grand Hotel, Asaba at 7pm, is being organised by a leading management consultancy and workshop facilitator, Doely Intermediaries.

According to the Project Coordinator, Jude Banye, the candidates namely Chief Great Ogboru of the Labour Party (LP), Olorogun Otega Emerhor of APC and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa of the PDP are participating in the debate which will be broadcast live on Channels Television.

He said: “Many Nigerians do not bother to show up at the voting polls, essentially because there is a lack of close knowledge/understanding of the candidates, their plans and the effects on the ordinary man.  On the 19th of February, the three contenders for the exalted seat of Delta State Governor will give up their evening to stand before the people of Delta State and defend their desire to lead Delta State to its next developmental level.

“They will all be answering questions from a group of carefully selected panelists. Education, health, ethnicity and other developmental issues will be thrashed extensively.

“The Key question is ‘who really deserves our vote?’ The Gubernatorial Election Debate is intended to inform, sensitise and involve voters in the 2015 Delta State political process,” Banye said.
