Lagos Students Adopt Ambode
STUDENTS of all tertiary institutions in Lagos State have declared their supports for the governorship candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and Dr Idiat Adebule.
Addressing newsmen on Thursday, a group,identified as Ambode/Adebule Youth Forum, explained that the reason for the support for the duo was on the need for continuity of the political and socio-economic development programmes being currently witnessed in the state.
The group is a representation of different advocacy groups from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Lagos State University (LASU), Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (ACOED), Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) and Yaba College of Education.
Coordinator of the group, Mr Ogungbo Moruf Olawale; the deputy, Awesu Olaniyi Williams; the Secretary, Akasoro Rilwan Olamilekan; President, Alliance for Reformation and Action (ARA), Miss Durosimi Ibukunoluwa; Speaker, Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (ACOED), Durosimi Hassan and Convener of the Buhari/Osinbajo Youths Squad, Abiodun Ojo, all spoke at the parley.
Ogungbo said that the fundamental task at hand was to continue to penetrate all the nooks and crannies of the state, to educate and galvanise the people towards the electoral victory of Ambode and Adebule come next month’s election.
“Interestingly, we are not like any other paid groups around today. We are typically a volunteer youth group, which believes in the dreams and aspirations of the duo of Ambode/Adebule for a better Lagos and its people. We sincerely and strongly believe that the continuity of the current political transformation in the state is to the betterment of every Lagosians, including the students. And that Ambode and Adebule are the most credible personalities that can drive this development,” the group said.
Awesu noted that the more reason why his group was out to solicit for votes for the victory of Ambode/Adebule was because of their comprehensive programmes on qualitative education and employment opportunities among others.
