How APC stalled Sokoto dep gov’s removal, by Tambuwal
AT the commencement of his campaign tour of Sokoto State Thursday, the All Progressives Congress(APC) gubernatorial candidate and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, said that the party resisted pressure to impeach the State Deputy Governor, Mukhtari Shehu Shagari, who is still in the PDP.
Tambuwal who spoke while addressing a political rally in Shagari town asserted that the party was enjoying tremendous support from the people in the area because their son was not disgraced out of office.
Tambuwal prayed God to grant former President Shehu Shagari, robust health so as to continue giving good leadership and good counsel on leadership.
In his speech, Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko who is now senatorial candidate, said the APC chose to commence the statewide campaign tour from Shagari town because it was the home of good governance.
He announced that the sale of government housing estates would be conducted after the elections so as not to politicize it.
Earlier, Faruku Mandera described as the deputy governor’s former political associate spoke on behalf of 868 decampees from the PDP.
He told the gathering that Governor Wamakko has become a reference point as somebody who has foresight to defect to the APC at the time he did.
He said that he and the others had to leave the PDP having also seen that all the negative things said about the party were true.
Also speaking on behalf of the decampees, Alhaji Usman Dantambuwal, said that they switched allegiance to the APC because Tambuwal was people friendly and would execute people oriented programmes and projects if elected as governor.
He pleaded that the decampees should not be treated as new members because they were ready to contribute to the party’s success at the polls.
