Abductors of the Imo State Bureau Chief of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Miss Chidi Opara, have freed her, the Imo State Commissioner of Police (CP), Austin Evbakhavbokun, disclosed yesterday.

Briefing Journalists at the state headquarters of the police command, the CP said that he was not aware of any payment made before she was let go by the captors, adding that the command had applied all that was required to ensure that the lady was set free unhurt, noting that the hoodlums were been searched for by his men.

According to him, he said he would find out from the Criminal Investigation Department of the police in the state if her Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) had been found.

The abductors were said to have abducted Opara at the entrance of her home in MCC Road, Uratta, Owerri North Local Council of Imo State about 9.p.m on Wednesday. They also snatched her Lexus SUV, taking her to an unknown destination. Later, they demanded a ransom of about N8m, before a reduction to N1m.
