DR. Olusegun Mimiko has been honoured with Outstanding Governor Award by Ondo Moslems Forum (OMF). The forum hinged its decision on the success so far recorded by the Mimiko-led government especially in the health sector.

The governor bagged the award alongside others during the group’s 10th Anniversary Celebration held in Ondo.

In his address before the presentation of the award to the governor, the Forum’s Chairman, Alhaji Y. Hamzat said his health care programmes have benchmarked the continent of Africa as he described the standard of health care in the state particularly the Medical Village in Ondo as unique.

He noted that the outstanding performances of the governor in the last five years are unequalled and praised him for signing into law the Medical Varsity Bill establishing the Ondo State University of Medical Sciences to complement the operation of the Medical Village.

Harmzat commended Mimiko for the establishment of the world class Kidney Centre, Gani Fawehinmi Diagnostic Centre and Trauma Centre in Ondo town among other performances noting that as the first illustrious son of Ondo kingdom to become governor, he has not disappointed the town and the state in general.

Mimiko, who was represented by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo, appreciated the Forum for the honour bestowed on him. He also thanked their members for the spread of the message of peace which Islam is known for.

Mimiko congratulated the people of the town and the state for the proposed University of Medical Sciences to be established in the town.

He thanked Muslim faithful across the state for not identifying themselves with insurgents in the country.
