THE Arewa (Hausa) community in Ogun state have endorsed Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka as its preferred choice to occupy the position of governor of Ogun State come May 29, this year.

Isiaka who is the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got the boost yesterday at Ilaro where the group held its consultative meeting where they took a position on who occupies the exalted seat.

The group comprising of various traders and owners of business spread across the state, spoke with one voice and were unanimous in their decision.

The group also berated the ruling party for neglecting them and failing to honor promises he made to them in 2011 while seeking for votes.

The state leader, Mallam Audu Sanni said, “we have looked at the antecedents of Prince Isiaka and discovered him to be honest and trustworthy;  Moreso that we believe he can transform the state from its current poor economic condition where business is at its lowest ebb”.

The Arewa community, however challenged Isiaka to live up to his promises if elected into office.

Responding, Isiaka promised to attend to their requests and reiterated his desire to make life more abundant for everyone residing in the state irrespective of their ethnicity and tribe.

He stated further, “my four pillars manifesto will liberate the state and make Ogun economically buoyant and socially alive. I thank you for this confidence reposed on me and I assure you of great times ahead”.

Meanwhile, Isiaka has pledged rapid economic transformation of the state to engender development in all the three senatorial districts of the state.

He also promised massive employment for the teeming youths, who he said would form the fulcrum of his administration, just as he disclosed that people will be at the centre of his policies.

Addressing 48 traditional rulers from Ogun West Senatorial District in Ilaro, Ogun State that gathered to bless him, Isiaka said the time has come for the Yewa/Awori people to produce the governor of the state. He noted that since the creation of the state in 1976, nobody from Ogun West had the opportunity to govern the state.

He said he was being motivated to be in the race to make the difference in the lives of Ogun people and give everybody a sense of belonging.

Isiaka who took a swipe at the administration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun asked what was the offence of Ogun West people to deserve the level of neglect in the last three and half years.

He noted, “As we were coming here (Ilaro) today our people were baffled with the neglect of infrastructure here, the roads leading to Ilaro, the capital of Ogun West is in terrible shape, in fact there is no single road that is good in the whole of Ogun West despite the fact that they are putting bridges even where they are not necessary. We don’t know our offence as a people but the end has come to it because we are prepared to give all it takes to get what it is ours”.

Isiaka disclosed that out of 774 public secondary schools in Ogun State only 100 blocks of classrooms were refurbished by this government saying the educational policies of the state would be reviewed to make it relevant to the industrial needs of the country.

Isiaka promised that his government will venture into creating atmosphere for giant and viable companies to spring up in the State.

He recalled that as the Group Managing Director of the Gateway Holdings he engineered the only functional free trade zone in the South West and promised to re-visit Olokola Deep Sea project that is capable of employing thousands of youths.

Responding, The paramount ruler of Yewaland and Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Adeboye Olugbenle said Yewa/Awori people are proud of Isiaka and they have no doubt that he would make a good governor because of his impeccable track records in both private and public sectors.
