A GOVERNORSHIP aspirant of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Dr. Abimbola Ajayi Ojora, has appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to call the party to order over the choice of it’s governorship candidate in Lagos State, which she alleged was fraudulently decided, as no primary was held as demanded by the electoral umpire.

However, the State Chairman of AD, Mr. Kola Ajayi, refuted Ojora’s claims, stating that a primary was held with the representative of INEC present to testify to the transparency of the process.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, Ojora said that she and some other members of the party including some state executive members only read the choice of the party’s Lagos State governorship candidate in the newspaper.

She maintained that there was no primary conducted and that the party’s members were not briefed about having a consensus candidate before the candidate was picked and the decision announced on the pages of the newspaper.

She also claimed that the Lagos AD deliberately denied her from being the governorship candidate because she is a woman, despite having made contributions, spent money, time and resources as the preferred candidate.
