Ugwuanyi pledges good governance, hails perseverance of his supporters
ENUGU State governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has pledged good governance that would lift the state to greater heights even as he also thanked all those who prayed, fasted, suffered, and contributed in various ways to his emergence as governor, describing them as “the true heroes of our democracy”.
Accompanied by his wife, Monica, Deputy Governor, Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo, the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Edward Ubosi among others, the governor made the pledge on Sunday during a Thanksgiving Mass in his honour by the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Chaplaincy, Federal Government College, Enugu.
He singled out the priests for their perseverance and steadfastness, whose concern for his success has culminated in the thanksgiving mass.
In his homily, the Vice Chancellor of Bishop Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anike said that Ugwuanyi will emerge as one of the greatest governors to lead Enugu because of his “closeness to God and prayers the people of the State have been offering for him to succeed.”
The vice chancellor urged the people to continue to pray for the Governor to overcome the economic challenges in the state and not to be distracted as he focuses on his well articulated economic adjustment programmes aimed at developing the State.
Meanwhile in another sermon, Rev. Fr. John Ekwueme of Godfrey Okoye University, disclosed that Ugwuanyi’s emergence was symbolic in the Christian family as there are signs that God has a hand in his victory.
