Body of Senior Advocates sues for settlement in CJN’s prosecution
The Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN) has called for amicable resolution of the prosecution of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Walter Onnoghen at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) in the interest of legal profession and the nation.
Arising from an emergency meeting in Lagos, yesterday, the body, in a communiqué endorsed by Prof. Ben Nwabueze (SAN) and Seyi Sowemimo (SAN) insisted that such must be resolved carefully and responsibly.
The body bemoaned the situation that has arisen from the preferment of charges against the CJN and head of the Nigerian Judiciary before the CCT.
While urging respect for the Constitution, the rule of law, separation of powers, due process and the proper administration of justice, BOSAN advised all parties to consider the impact of their respective actions on the
administration of justice in Nigeria and “public confidence in our institutions.”
