Nigeria has capacity to export sugar, says Dangote
Chairman of Dangote roup, Aliko Dangote, has said that Nigeria has the capacity to export sugar to other countries considering the friendly investment atmosphere the present administration is providing for investors.
Speaking in Numan, where the Dangote Savannah Sugar Company is located during its inspection with Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Adeniyi Adebayo, he said the company’s production capacity would be increased to meet Nigerians’ demands.
Dangote said the country was on the verge of meeting its sugar needs, especially with the capacity and potential of the group’s sugar companies, which are expanding their production capacities across the country.
He disclosed that Savannah Sugar Company produces 50,000 tons of sugar per annum, has 700 permanent employees and about 5,000 spontaneous workers.
