Niger gov’s wife expresses concern over rising rate of abandoned babies
The governor’s wife, who said this in Minna in a chat with newsmen after inspecting an orphanage home in the state, warned parents to desist from abandoning their babies, adding that there are no laws that says one must have children.
“Abandoning a baby is among the worst crimes anyone can commit against humanity,” Bello said. She warned those who abandoned innocent babies to desist from doing that, stressing that the act had a way of coming back to hunt those who did such.
While acknowledging that the economic situation in the country might not be making things easy for some people, she said nothing on earth justified throwing away babies, urging parents to be patient, as things would improve in future.
The governor’s wife advised people, who are not capable of taking care of the needs of the babies, to avoid having them as there were no need to put the lives those babies in danger.
Bello however, urged sexually active Nigerians to live up to their responsibilities to ensure the reduction of abandoned babies across.
