In a statement, they flayed former President Olusegun Obasanjo for urging dialogue with the agitators whereas he destroyed Odi in Bayelsa State during his time in power.

Signed by Generals John Duku; Ekpo Ekpo; Osarolor Nedam; Major-Gens. Henry Okon Etete; Asukwo Hensha; Ibinabo Horsfall, among others representing their various groups, they stated: “The Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators met yesterday (Sunday) to assess the recent situation in Nigeria, especially the unthinkable attack of Nigerian Armed Forces by the element of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the south eastern part of the country as it extends to Oyigbo local council Rivers State, a Niger Delta territory. After hours of deliberation, we unanimously resolved as follows:

“We are appealing to the Nigerian government to allow Igbo to go and have their independence without the involvement of other zones since they are tired of being in Nigeria. We are not ready to go into another civil war.”
