NGO donates school building, empowers 3,000 in Ebonyi community

A non-governmental organisation, Ebele and Anyichuks Foundation, has donated a new two-storey building comprising six classrooms and Information Communication Technology equipment to Isu Achara community in Ohaozara local government council of Ebonyi State.

The foundation used the occasion of handing over ceremony to empower indigent members of the community, including widows, youths, artisans and the less privileged with a charge on them to encourage educational development of the area.

Speaking while commissioning the project and kicking off the distribution of the gift items, Ebonyi State governor, Chief David Umahi, commended the founder, Mr. Ifeanyi Odii, stressing that government alone could not shoulder the responsibility of providing access to qualitative education.

Extolling the humanitarian disposition of Ebele and Anyichuks Foundation, Umahi noted that the foundation “has been a source of consolation, he has stood for the poor, as we express our gratitude to him, we pray that the creator will continue to promote him.

“We are gathered not only to commission this building and receive these gifts to the poor; we are here to honour the founders for being a source of joy, not only to his people, but Ebonyi State in general.”

Earlier, the founder of the NGO, Mr. Odii, explained that the gesture was to create real wealth by empowering unemployed persons and supporting the educational uplift of the upcoming generation.

He stated: “The vision and mission of the Foundation was to add value and improve the lives of the less privilege through economic empowerment to enable them be self reliant and safeguard their means of livelihood.

“Over a decade ago, we started this journey towards emancipation humanity from the strong forces of under development and poverty through youth empowerment, social security and economic liberation. There is no greater sense of purpose than a deliberate attempt to create a real wealth by empowering youths to do exploits and improve their community.”

Odii, who is also the Chief Executive of Orient Global Manufacturing Limited Lagos, expressed the hope that new school edifice would deepen the quality of teaching and learning within the community and beyond.

“50 motorcycles, 50 sewing machines, 50 Grinding machines, 1,000 bags of rice, 500 pieces of wrappers, and 20 pieces of hair dryers, are being given out this year,” he disclosed.

A beneficiary Mrs. Cecilia Njoku, who spoke on behalf of the others, praised the Foundation for its philanthropy, assuring that the empowerment with several gift items would improve their economic wellbeing and development.
